Abstract

Character education is a variety of efforts made by various school personnel, even those carried out together with parents and community members to help children and adolescents to become or have a caring, opinionated, and responsible nature. The importance of character education for children with special needs in the new habituation period. The values ​​of local wisdom that can be applied to children with special needs is to instill the value of mutual cooperation character from their own environment. Responding to the importance of character education, it is very necessary character education in schools to realize the nation's civilization by providing exemplary and habituation. The first part of this study will introduce the meaning of character education, the functions and objectives of mutual cooperation character education based on local wisdom for children with special needs in elementary school. The second part will discuss the values ​​of character education, the importance of character education and the implementation of planting character values ​​of gotong royong based on local wisdom in the new habituation period. The final part of this paper will explain about the implementation of character education in schools through the example of mutual cooperation and new habits during the pandemic.
