Abstract

This study aims to find out about the communication strategies of SMAN 1 Sigli teachers in online learning during the COVID-19 period. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, which uses data analysis from the results of interviews and observations of objects. The COVID-19 situation has made the world of education temporarily stop doing face-to-face teaching and learning activities so as to stop the widespread spread of the COVID-19 virus by replacing online teaching and learning activities that are carried out at home. According to researchers, the difficult obstacles faced by teachers when learning to teach online are the difficulties of dealing with students who are late and fall asleep while learning is in progress. Internet constraints have also become something that makes teachers difficult during teaching and learning activities, dealing with the internet that suddenly turns off while teaching and learning takes place makes communication less effective. The communication strategy used by the teacher for online teaching and learning is carried out optimally and effectively to be conveyed to students, before conveying knowledge, the teacher carefully prepares the material using power points as an applicator of the material presented to students so that it can be easily understood.
