Overview of Nurse Compliance in the Implementation of Hand Hygiene Before Performing Nursing Actions

Abstract

Hand Hygiene behavior is one of the factors that influence the prevention of INOS in hospitals. Compliance of health workers in carrying out Hand Hygiene activities can reduce the number of Nosocomial Infections by 40%. This study was conducted to determine the compliance of nurses at St. Gabriel Kewapante Hospital in carrying out actions Hand Hygiene before performing nursing actions. This study used a quantitative descriptive method, using a total sampling technique to obtain a sample of 30 nurses at St. Hospital. Gabriel Kewa Pante. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and observation. The results of this study describe the frequency distribution of the level of compliance according to the five moments of hand hygiene indicators in the inpatient ward of St. Gabriel Kewapante Hospital; 1) Of the 30 respondents, 19 respondents (63%) were obedient in carrying out hand hygiene before taking nursing actions. 2) Of the 30 respondents, as many as 25 respondents (83%) nurses were obedient in carrying out hand hygiene before carrying out nursing actions according to the Hand Rub Procedure indicator. 3) Of the 30 respondents, 29 respondents (97%) nurses were obedient in carrying out hand hygiene before performing nursing actions according to the hand wash procedure indicator.
